Chant is a seven piece atmospheric rock band from Finland.

‘New Haven’ is the follow up to 2012’s critically acclaimed album ‘The Healing Place’ and the first thing I noticed when listening to the first track ‘Earthen’ is the atmosphere present, which reminds me of bands such as Porcupine Tree, Katatonia, and Tool, who utilise the same type of sound that Pink Floyd have used a lot over the years, for a great ambient effect.

With its dark, gloomy sound it takes the listener on a journey through various soundscapes.  I like that every instrument is allowed to breathe which makes this album a joy to experience.

This is an album I could never tire of listening to. All eight tracks offer alternative flavours to each other, serving up an overall wholesome offering art-flared rock.
