Photos and Review by Claudia Bauch and Steve Salmon
We arrived early on a rainy Morning at the “Rushmoor Arena” in Aldershot but despite the not so kind weather, the venue started to fill up nicely with beautiful Hot Rods, Custom Cars and Classic Cars.
Our first stop was the tent with the “Model Car Display”, so Steve could set up his own car models for the display, whilst catching up and meeting up with friends before heading out into the arena. This was held in the SSR Hospitality tent, which also held face painting, balloon modelling and colouring competition for the little ones.
This years event differed a bit from last years 40th anniversary show, as it once again took place at the usual show ground and the organizers decided to go back to basics, when it came to the criteria of what sort of cars would be on display.
This new regulations and the not so kind weather might have been the main reason for the smaller number of cars but didn’t take anything away from the event itself.
Of course one difficulty with rain comes when taking the photos. Thankfully to stop our cameras from getting wet, we had help from our friend Julie Wilkinson and her red umbrella of love.
Luckily, it stopped raining by lunch time and we finally made our way into the arena to see some of the amazing and unique vehicles on display.
After strolling around for a few hours it was time for a light lunch and coffee break, before we continued to explore all the different trade stalls, fun fair and attractions on offer before heading home.
Once again, Surrey Street Rodders managed to create on wonderful day out for the whole family and it’s also worth mentioning, that the entrance fee of this event will be donated to a chosen charity, as it has been done from day one.
Needless to say, that we are now already looking forward to “Wheels Day” 2016!
