Chimaira vocalist, Mark Hunter, takes a moment to answer a few of our questions.
1.) You have a new album coming out soon called ‘Crowned Phantoms’, where did the inspiration come from when naming the title?
Crown of Phantoms came from hallucinatory insight mixed with word play.
2.) How long does the album process usually take, and to get all the final mixes aswell?
Each album is different, this one took a year start to finish. Writing to release.
3.) What is usually involved in a typical day of touring?
Running around, trying to find a toilet, hanging with fans, and playing shows. Hurry up and wait is our motto.
4.) I saw online that you’re touring late July in the US with ‘The Browning’, ‘Threat Signal’ and ‘Dark Sermon’. What can the fans expect from these shows?
Mosh pits, crowd surfing, sweaty dudes, riffs, drums, vocals, keyboards, lasers, smoke, and tits.
5.) Have you ever received any crazy gifts from your fans?
6.) Do you have any pre-gig rituals before you go onstage?
A lot of hip hop and incense.
7.) What’s the most insane thing that has happened to you whilst on the road?
I once saw black metal dudes wearing corpse paint in the indian ocean.
8.) What was it like to film your latest music video ‘No Mercy’?
Really cool. We spent about a week working 12 hour days. All our friends showed up and we had a ton of fun.
9.) I read online over at Facebook, that you’re running an Album Release Contest on Instagram, can you tell us more about that?
That’s our management. I have no idea what you’re even talking about! haha
10.) Lastly, is there any upcoming news about Chimaira that we should know about for the remainder of 2013?
Expect to see us in your town soon.
