Two words, ladies and gentlemen: “rock” and “roll”. One must keep up with times, true, but it’s also important to never forget how it all began. Therefore when a young band like Lift The Medium comes along and manages to reproduce that old school vibe so naturally, with such passion and talent, one should welcome them with arms wide open.

Originally released in 2014, “Mastermind” will now see the light of day in a deluxe version, with one extra song and a revamped artwork. If you’ve had the chance to come across that first edition, well, I won’t say that the catchy, easy-going “Fact Of The Matter” is good enough to purchase this album for a second time, but if you haven’t done it before, now it’s time to reconsider.

Built on straight-forward, spirited riffs, at a brisker or more moderate rhythm, the sound of Lift The Medium features every treat of classical hard rock, with skilled instrumental and vocal performances. Highlights on the upbeat eighties-echo of the title-track and “Spells”, the lazy semi-acoustic “Flow On”, the graceful “Laughter” and the seductive “Today” and “Reasons”. Well look at that – almost the whole album is highlighted!
