The most famous death/thrash metal band to come out of Brazil is Sepultura and if you don’t know them it’s safe enough to say you don’t know metal. It would seem Brazil have thrown another legendary metal band in the making into the mix, exciting quartet Evil Syndicate.
Having released their debut EP Shadows of Insanity back in November 2013 it’s apparent they are heavily influenced by death and thrash metal, although Shadows of Insanity fills the void between both genres.
Over the 5 tracks expect 36mins of hard-hitting, brutal, ear raping riffs and drumbeats with welcoming epic breakdowns. Singles ‘Destructor Ego’ and it’s successor ‘Skull and Bones’ have already won Evil Syndicate a pretty decent fan base due to the sheer aggression, unique drumming style and scolding vocals. ‘Abyssus Abyssum Invocat’ takes the term ‘serious riffage’ to a whole new level with the fine use of a bass throughout the entire track, solely made for mosh pit use.
Admittedly there is massive room for this band to evolve- in their own way -but highly recommended especially if thrash is your bag, expect big things from Evil Syndicate.
